Occasionally, there are unforeseen circumstances that lead to a need to remove previously inserted breast implants. Although, this is rather uncommon it is not totally unforeseen as breast implants are not made to last forever. Such circumstances that call for a removal of breast implants might include/but are not limited to:

  • Capsular contracture
  • Breast implant rippling
  • Changing breast shape and projection
  • Changing breast implant feel
  • Breast sagging
  • Breast implant leaking
  • Breast implant deflation
  • Desire for a change in breast size / shape

The ideal candidate for breast implant removal or replace would be:

  • A physically healthy individual
  • A non-smoker
  • A woman with specific, but realistic goals in mind

Whether you are removing the implants completely or simply replacing them it is important to be specific about what you are looking to achieve. It is possible that if you decrease in the size of your implant that a breast lift might be necessary in conjunction with the replacement. Dr. Chahin will discuss with you these procedures, and what is mutually felt to be the best method of treatment to aid in achieving optimal results for you.
